John 6:60-71

Therefore many of his disciples after hearing said, "this is a hard word, who is able to hear it.

John 6:60 π  Polloi… ou\n a˙kouvsanteß e∆k twÇn maqhtwÇn aujtou: ei«pan` sklhrovß e∆stin oJ lovgoß ou|toß` ti√ß duvnatai aujtou: a˙kouvein~ 
And Jesus knowing in himself that they murmured about this his disciples he said to them, "Does this offend you?

61 ei∆dw˝ß de… oJ =Ihsou:ß e∆n eÔautw/Ç o{ti gogguvzousin peri… touvtou oiÔ maqhtai… aujtou: ei«pen aujtoiæß` tou:to uJmaÇß skandali√zei~ 
Therefore if you behold the son of man aescending from where he was before.
62 e∆a˝n ou\n qewrh:te to;n uiÔo;n tou: a˙nqrw◊pou a˙nabai√nonta o{pou h\n to; provteron~
The spirit makes alive, the flesh does not keep live. The I have spoken to you is spirit and it is life. 
63 to; pneu:ma◊ e∆stin to; zw/opoiou:n, hJ sa˝rx oujk w˙feleiæ oujde√n` ta˝ rJhvmata afi e∆gw˝ lela◊lhka uJmiæn pneu:ma◊ e∆stin kai… zwhv e∆stin. 
But there are from you those who do not believe, for Jesus knew from the beginning those who were not believing and who was to deliver him over .

64 a˙ll= ei∆si…n e∆x uJmwÇn tineß oi’ ouj pisteuvousin. h≥[dei ga˝r e∆x a˙rch:ß oJ =Ihsou:ß ti√neß ei∆si…n oiÔ mh; pisteuvonteß kai… ti√ß e∆stin oJ paradw◊swn aujtovn. 
And he said, Therefore I say to you that no one is able to come to me except it is given to him of the Father.
65  kai… e“legen` dia˝ tou:to ei“rhka uJmiæn o{ti oujdei…ß duvnatai e∆lqeiæn provß me e∆a˝n mh; h≥\ dedome√non aujtw/Ç e∆k tou: patrovß. 
After this many of his disciples departed back and did not walk with him.

66 π  =Ek touvtou polloi… (e∆k) twÇn maqhtwÇn aujtou: a˙ph:lqon ei∆ß ta˝ ojpi√sw kai… oujke√ti met= aujtou: periepa◊toun.
Therefore Jesus said to the twelve," And do you desire to go?" 

67.  ei«pen ou\n oJ =Ihsou:ß toiæß dw◊deka` mh; kai… uJmeiæß qe√lete uJpa◊gein~ 
Simon Peter answered and said, " Lord, to who shall we go?  You have the words of life.

68 a˙pekri√qh aujtw/Ç Si√mwn Pe√troß` kuvrie, pro;ß ti√na a˙peleusovmeqa~ rJhvmata zwh:ß ai∆wni√ou e“ceiß, 
And we have believed and we have known that you are the Holy one of God.

69 kai… hJmeiæß pepisteuvkamen kai… e∆gnw◊kamen o{ti su; ei« oJ a›gioß tou: qeou:. 
Jesus answered them, "Did I not choose 12 of you? And of you one is a devil. 

70 a˙pekri√qh aujtoiæß oJ =Ihsou:ß` oujk e∆gw˝ uJmaÇß tou;ß dw◊deka e∆xelexa◊mhn~ kai… e∆x uJmwÇn ei»ß dia◊bolovß e∆stin. 
71. And this he said of Simon Judas son of Iskariot. For this one was pratraying him out of the 12.
